You’ll receive an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each section, reflecting your English proficiency level.
Your Test Report Form (TRF) lists individual scores for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, plus an overall band score. Scores can be whole bands (5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half bands (5.5, 6.5, 7.5).
Organisations typically do not accept IELTS results older than two years, unless you provide evidence of actively maintaining or improving your English since the test date. IELTS Partners cannot verify the validity of results exceeding two years.
There are no limits on retaking the IELTS—you can book your next test whenever you feel prepared.
Note that significant score improvements typically require dedicated English practice beforehand.
If your student did not receive the score they expected, they can apply for their test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results. They will need to request this at the test centre where they sat the test.
- When: Within 6 weeks of the test date.
- Fee: Students should contact their local test centre for fee information.
- Timeframe: The review will take 2-4 weeks to process.
